{ The Project concept }

The project springs from the idea of showcasing this surface like no other in the nautical world through its own site-specific art project.
The performance is choreographed to express a sense of total immersion, movement and freedom.

The location is the open sea, out towards the horizon, tinged with the copper and orange of the first light of day, that moment when everything begins and anything is possible.

Location

The location is the open sea, out towards the horizon. With the characteristic Itama geometries, the bow creates a pleasantly dizzying sensation over the water.

Natural setting

Enveloped in a stunning natural setting, the dancers perform with the wind and the waves under an infinite skyscape illuminated by the purest light of dawn.

Dance as a medium for appropriating space, for opening up to new possibilities. A language that is noble and elegant yet powerful and vibrant.

Composition

Choreography

Dance seeks to describe the truth of nature, to create telling images.
Through movement, we search for that light, that redolence, that eloquent silence, those endless horizons only the sea can give.
Bodies move, uniting as one with the wind and the clouds, errant daubs in the sky. Nature is revealed, and humankind becomes part of it.
The dancers are no longer at the mercy of the elements but find a common voice, a new harmony of wood and water, wind and sea.
The sea speaks, and the artists assimilate and echo its sinuous sensuality, sure-footed, their limbs merging with the surroundings, gaining strength and poise.

Costumes

Inspired by the wind rippling the sea, the costumes take their cue from the sky at first light and the colour of the teak on the Itama 75 bow. The garments immediately evoke the waves, the breeze on the brine, the sun glinting off the water, the seaweed’s serpentine dance, the billow of clouds in a storm. The sea wind transmutes in material form into sinuous lines that elevate womanly beauty and grace and exalt the earthly strength of men.
And so the costumes play on the elements of nature, from the gossamer morning breeze to the potent breakers on the rocks. For an image of elegance, refinement and oneness with nature.
